Swipe left on danger: a short thriller about the blurred lines of modern romance and app dating.
Versace Softboi
LOGLINE: A stoned sleepover party takes a terrifying turn when Alex thinks her Tinder date is watching her through her window. Think Broad City meets Rear Window.
SYNOPSIS: After a devastating breakup, Alex enters the world of app dating, encouraged by her supportive best friends Cleo and Em. During a girls' night in, fueled by weed and YouTube videos, Alex excitedly shares that she's dating a Versace model. However, as the night progresses, a sense of unease fills the air. Alex feels watched, and her paranoia intensifies when she spots someone sitting outside her apartment. Is it Sam, the seemingly perfect Versace model?
Determined to confront her fears head-on, Alex convinces Cleo to join her in investigating the situation.
Versace Softboi was born from a personal experience of being stalked—an experience that was both terrifying and, at times, strangely absurd. What struck me most was the ambiguity: the way these situations often unfold in a gray area where intentions, boundaries, and perceptions blur. In real life, stalking doesn’t always come with clear villains. Often it can look like charm and romance until it crosses a line. I wanted to explore that complexity by blending the tones of thriller and dark comedy, capturing the dissonance many of us feel when navigating modern relationships. By keeping the truth deliberately murky—asking whether Sam is truly dangerous or if the girls are reading too much into things—I hope to provoke conversation and reflection about how we interpret red flags, trust our instincts, and define harm in a culture that often downplays it.
